PhD Position in CCMP Group
Project Description
The development of a country mostly depends on the ability of continuous energy supply. After the fossil fuel the nuclear power and solar power are the most prominent candidate for the alternate source of power. The efficiency of the solar cell yet not reached to mark of expectation for its use in heavy duty industrial application. Therefore, the nuclear power become the second most popular source of energy over the world. But this source of energy involves potential risk and long run environmental hazard. Because of the advancement of nuclear technology and use of these technologies in various fields of industry, medicine, agriculture and research, protection against radioactive rays became one of the most important topics in the field. The research related to nuclear technology can be categorized into several branches. For example, research on designing new reactors, adding new safety features, radiation damage on materials, designing fuel elements, radioactive waste management etc. The purpose of the PhD position is to study the defect in the materials while they are subjected in intense field of radiation and design new hazard free materials for effective shielding from radioactive radiation. Combination of molecular dynamic (MD) simulation and density functional theory (DFT) will be used to understand the defect and change in mechanical properties of the shielding materials when they are exposed to intense radiation.
Requirements
